1. How to donate to Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF)?

There are a few ways to donate to JCF:

One-time donations through our secure online payment gateway: –

2. Is my donation tax-exempt?

Yes, JCF is a not-for-profit organisation under sub-section 44 (6) of Income Tax Act 1967, and all monetary donations to JCF are tax deductible (applicable only to donations made within Malaysia).

3. What is the difference between one-time and recurring donations?

One-time donation occurs when a donor makes a one-off/single monetary contribution. Multiple and separate contributions are considered as one-time donations.

Recurring donation is when a donor elects to make a regular, ongoing donation on a recurring basis e.g. monthly or annually. Recurring donations will help the donors plan their contributions according to their personal budget and schedule of their choice.

Recurring donations will allow you to make a bigger charitable impact as we nurture talent and future leaders through quality education and world-class research for the betterment of our nation.

4. What do I need to make a recurring donation?

Our secure online payment gateway accepts any Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card or debit card for recurring donations. Recurring donations can be made online at https://jeffreycheahfoundation-donation.sunway.com.my/?id=monthly.

Donors can also schedule a recurring transfer from their own bank account to: –

5. Is there a minimum amount of donation required for me to be eligible for tax-exemption?

There is no minimum amount to be eligible for tax exemption. However, kindly note that we have a certain level of administrative cost that needs to be maintained (postage, notification systems etc), as such we require at least RM10 for one-time donations and at least RM10 per month or RM200 per year for recurring donations, should you wish to claim for tax-exemption.

6. Is there a limit to the number of recurring donations?

There is no limit to the number of times that donors can contribute, monthly or annually, in scheduling recurring donations.

7. How do I change my credit card/debit card for my recurring donations? (e.g. if the card has expired/terminated/stolen)

8. How do I terminate my recurring donations?

To terminate your recurring donations, please email us at donation@jeffreycheah.foundation. Please state the following information for us to process your termination:

Donor’s full name as per NRIC / Passport
NRIC number / passport number
Type of donation: Monthly / Annual
Date of termination (kindly ensure that the date of termination is AFTER your last recurring payment).

9. How many days will the termination process take?

Your termination request will be acknowledged within 3 working days, and the process of termination process will be completed in 7 working days.

10. What information is required if I would like a tax-exempt receipt for donation?

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB, or commonly known as LHDN, Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri) has recently issued the revised Guidelines for Approval of Director General of Inland Revenue under Subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act dated 15 May 2019 (“Revised Guidelines”). The Revised Guidelines supersede the previous Guidelines dated April 2005 (“Previous Guidelines”).

Based on the Revised Guidelines, donors must provide complete information of the following details to obtain an official tax-exempt receipt from the organisation. The Revised Guidelines also state that the approved institution or organisation is not allowed to issue tax-exempt receipts to donors who fail to provide their complete personal details stated below.

11. When will I receive my tax-exempt receipt?

For one-time donations, your tax-exempt receipt will be sent to your correspondence address within 30 days after donations are made. For recurring donations, your tax-exempt receipt will be sent to your correspondence address by 31 January of the following.
