10 Apr Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sir Dr. Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO wins Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture, and Education
At the Indixia Asia launch held in Hong Kong, the Arts for India Foundation, helmed by Satish Modi, awarded the Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education to Tan Sri Sir Dr. Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO, the founder, and Chairman of Sunway Group.
The Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education is awarded annually to an eminent person credited with outstanding contributions made to the fields of art, culture and education. Initiated in 1994, the Dayawati Modi Award has been given to deserving recipients in honour of Mrs. Dayawati Modi, a philanthropist, educationist and social worker in India, wife of the founder of the Modi Group of Industries, Mr. G.M. Modi. Past recipients include Rev. Mother Theresa, HH The Dalai Lama and Mr. Mark Shand.
The first Malaysian ever to be honoured with the Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education, Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah is passionate about providing quality educational opportunities to the young and deserving as he believes education is a vital vehicle to enrich and transform lives. He believes that education provides the young with the tools they need to develop their talents and help a nation progress.
In accepting the award on behalf of Tan Sri Sir Dr. Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO in Hong Kong recently, his daughter, Sarena Cheah conveyed Tan Sri Cheah’s continued desire and vision to establish the “Harvard of the East”, an education hub of international standing within Sunway Resort City while continuing to work tirelessly to inspire others to pursue the betterment of the community and society. Ms Cheah also highlighted the opportunity for the Arts for India Foundation and the JCF to learn from each other
